MDLO supports and salutes frontline workers by starting a Medical Masks Initiative
Like every other arts organization in the world we can’t be on stage due to the Covid-19 pandemic. But even though we can’t bring you music, we remain a proud member of Washington’s community and are doing our small part to support it. For our Medical Masks Initiative, please check here.
MDLO announces its first Student Initiative “Hello Opera!”
The Maryland Lyric Opera has announced its first Student Initiative “Hello Opera!”
The new Initiative will provide students with a unique opportunity to purchase any seat in the house for only $10 with student ID.
This year as we celebrate the centenary of the 19th Amendment – Women’s Right to Vote – MDLO will present three new productions about strong women who make their own choices, find their own paths and determine their own futures. The works will be “Thaïs” and “Le Nozze di Figaro.” The season opened with a double bill of “Il Tabarro” and “Cavalleria Rusticana” earlier this fall.
MDLO will also continue to support young artists by including casts with alumni of the MDLO Young Artist Institute and the Cafritz Young Artists Program.
MDLO supports emerging young talents
We are delighted to announce that the artwork for our upcoming new production of Massenet’s Thaïs was commissioned from a young, aspiring visual artist Marina Akopyan, a second year student at NY Cooper Union. At MDLO we make it our mission to support young talented artists
